    COTTON
    TO YARN

Great denim starts with high-quality cotton. The denim mill we work with sources raw cotton from select regions around the world, choosing fibers for strength, consistency, and how they’ll perform once woven and worn. Because cotton quality can shift with climate and harvests, they plan ahead—holding inventory months in advance to keep standards steady.

Before spinning begins, each bale is carefully opened, cleaned, and blended to remove impurities and stabilize quality. From there, the cotton is spun into yarn through a tightly controlled, five-step process.

    The Process

    1) Carding: The fibers are aligned and stacked.
    2) Drawing: The cotton is bundled and lightly twisted.
    3) Roving: The thread is twisted again to strengthen it. At this point, they are about as thick as udon noodles.
    4) Spinning: A strong twist is applied to the roving to make a single thread.
    5) Finishing: The yarns are inspected.
