Nick Noguchi, the designer at Kato, has decades of experience with selvedge denim and an extensive collection of vintage jeans. He has put all of his knowledge and experience into creating selvedge denim with all the character and durability of vintage denim, but with a level of unexpected comfort.

Every season, we strive to expand the possibilities of what selvedge denim can be. This season, we have created several new fabrics that will take you back to the 50s.

Nick had a vision: to make the world's most comfortable stretch denim with the look and durability of vintage selvedge. After years of development, we were able to create this amazing 4-WAY STRETCH SELVEDGE®.

What is 4-WAY STRETCH SELVEDGE®? Typical stretch denim only expands horizontally; ours stretches both horizontally and vertically. This unique flexibility in the fabric ensures comfort that adapts to your movements. Kato 4-way Stretch Selvedge is crafted on vintage shuttle looms at our Japanese Mill. This authentic selvedge denim not only promises unparalleled comfort but also outlasts traditional stretch, maintaining its shape and resisting bagging over time.

Shrinkage

Raw denim has up to 2% shrinkage while it would be 1% for washed denim after wash but they will also stretch out again by being worn over time.

Returns

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, You may return or exchange the items within 21 days from the date the order is shipped out.

Once your order with the hemming request is brought to our tailor, the order will not be refundable.

Denim wash and linen spray are not eligible for return or exchange.

International orders (outside from the US) are not eligible for returns or exchanges.

Care Guide

Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Use mild detergent (see our denim wash and spray). Hang dry only. Do not use a dryer.
