Inspired by the classic and rugged double pocket vintage workwear shirt. By utilizing a Loose Woven Striped fabric, we created a garment that is as comfortable as it is tough. The 11oz Herringbone Loose Woven Stripe fabric is steeped in vintage style. The detail in the herringbone is further accentuated by the loose weave of the fabric and adds a depth to the stripe pattern. A perfect middle weight to be worn alone or layered in the colder winter months.
We focused on the workwear details that add durability and functionality to the garment. The triple stitching on the shoulders, back and side seams and the bar tacked reinforced pockets adds unparalleled strength to this shirt. The discreet and easily accessible pen pocket gives “The Brace” a nice detail.
The chainstitch runoff found on the side gussets is an interesting detail and a nod to vintage shirts. Early workwear shirts were made with authentic high quality sewing machines that produced this run off effect when finished. These would usually get cut off in production but would sometimes be missed. Vintage collectors would find these rarities and they became highly sought after, not only for its rarity but because it was a true sign that a shirt is made using authentic vintage sewing machines. We made Kato work shirts following the footsteps of these vintage treasures and the chainstitch runoff is a testament to its quality and heritage. You can choose to wear them with pride or cut them off with no compromise in durability.
