The Scissors Slim Tapered - Indigo Raw 14oz Selvedge

Our premium denim is inspired by the classic vintage blue jean. Our Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim story starts in Japan where our fabric is developed at one of the oldest denim mills. We blend a unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.

Our 4-Way Stretch selvedge fabric is weaved using vintage shuttle looms. Rolls of denim fabric are then brought into our workshop in Los Angeles where each pair goes through a 60 to 90 day process of cut, sew, washing and testing. With 4 fits available in multiple weights (see fit guide) and washes, the style options are endless.

Crafted with intention, our denim is made using premium Japanese 4-way stretch selvedge in our Los Angeles workshop. Our denim goes through a time consuming 50 day process from start to finish to ensure the highest of quality. Built using only the best available hardware with traditional machines and techniques, you are getting a true vintage inspired piece with a modern upgrade of comfort.

The Indigo Raw 14oz was my third jean purchase from Hiroshi Kato. Another great pair to add to my HK collection. Dark blue with light cuff is what I was looking for and the 4 way stretch always allows the jeans to feel comfortable to wear straight out of the box! Another home run!!

Best jeans, great customer service

These are the best jeans I've ever owned. The slight stretch gives the perfect fit. I'm 6'2", 190 lbs, with large thighs, so that bit of stretch in the 33" makes a huge difference. I love the indigo raw in 14 oz because they are super versatile for a range of outfits. I wear them with a blazer and button-down for work meetings. I pair them with a flannel or bulky sweater and boots for weekends in the mountains.

I had to do an exchange to get the size just right, and the customer service was super responsive and easy. I'm a loyal customer for life.

Near perfect

This is my fifth pair of Hiroshi Kato denim (second raw pair), but my first foray into the Scissors/slim tapered fit. I really like the Pen as a daily driver and in nearly every wash (except the raw) I wear a 32" (I'm 6'2", 185). For certain looks/outfits, though I wanted something with a slightly narrower cut from the knee down and just a tad smaller leg opening. This wash and cut nail those perfectly, but I always size down (usually only 1 size) with raw denim and I'm glad I did with this pair. Even though the first several wears are tighter than normal (which is, well, normal for raw denim), the embedded stretch makes it completely manageable. Dare I say comfortable? And this is coming from someone who has larger thighs and calves (college athlete and runner). Win!
