Our premium denim is inspired by the classic vintage blue jean. Our Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim story starts in Japan where our fabric is developed at one of the oldest denim mills. We blend a unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.

Our 4-Way Stretch selvedge fabric is weaved using vintage shuttle looms. Rolls of denim fabric are then brought into our workshop in Los Angeles where each pair goes through a 60 to 90 day process of cut, sew, washing and testing. With 4 fits available in multiple weights (see fit guide) and washes, the style options are endless.

Shrinkage

Raw denim has up to 2% shrinkage while it would be 1% for washed denim after wash but they will also stretch out again by being worn over time.

Once your order with the hemming request is brought to our tailor, the order will not be refundable.

Our denim goes through a time consuming 50 day process from start to finish to ensure the highest of quality. Built using only the best available hardware with traditional machines and techniques, you are getting a true vintage inspired piece with a modern upgrade of comfort.

Perfect fit, lightweight enough for summer

I've normally been wearing 14oz+ denim, but wanted to try something lighter for the summer. The 10.5oz is a lot more comfortable in the heat, and the slight stretch makes them particularly comfortable.

Eye-catching Quality

These are by far one of my most complimented pairs of jeans. The fit is consistent with my other Katos, and the fade has a premium, textured look. They go great with a black pair of Chelsea boots and a leather jacket.

Zipper handle came undone

Brand new Jeans, worn 5/6 times and the zipper handle came apart - not expected from a brand new pair. Been wearing the previous two pair of Jeans from Kato - no issues.
The jacket from Kato always attracts compliments. I am heartbroken to see my favorite brand crumple.
