Hemmed pairs are non-returnable. We advise ordering without hemming until you've tried on the fit. You can return or exchange the pair in its original condition. To add hemming service to your exchange item, please contact customer support. Please allow up to 7 business days for the hemming service to be completed.
The inseam must not exceed the original length. Refer to our size chart for the original length and inseam measurement instructions. If your desired inseam is longer than the original, we will not provide hemming services. For raw jeans, consider adding extra inches to account for shrinkage. The original hem width will be maintained for all pants, including Axe's 1" hem.

Description

Our denim is inspired by the classic vintage blue jean. Our Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim story starts in Japan where our fabric is developed at one of the oldest denim mills. We blend a unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.

Using a sulfur dye, we are able to create colored denim that fades just like classic blue jeans. Our lightweight 10.5oz denim 4-Way Stretch Selvedge has all of the qualities of top shelf Japanese selvedge while offering a level of comfort and range of motion not possible in a 100% cotton jean.

Shrinkage

Raw denim has up to 2% shrinkage while it would be 1% for washed denim after wash but they will also stretch out again by being worn over time.

Returns

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, You may return or exchange the items within 21 days from the date the order is shipped out.

Once your order with the hemming request is brought to our tailor, the order will not be refundable.

Denim wash and linen spray are not eligible for return or exchange.

International orders (outside from the US) are not eligible for returns or exchanges.

Quality pant lighter green than expected

I own several pairs of this style so I like it. They are comfortable out of the box. The inseam works for me without alteration. I was disappointed that it wasn't darker as it appeared on line.

Bought Three

I picked up the dark green, grey, and tan. I like the fabric, my seamstress was even impressed. They are comfortable, fit nicely and well crafted. They do have a bit of 2000’s era shine. Total plus that they’re made in California. Looking forward to adding 14oz pair in the future.

Hoping they’ll wear in

Love the fit, but feel like there is a “shine” to them. I even had a friend comment that they looked shiny. Hoping that as I wear them this will go away.

My fifth pair of Kato jeans

This is my fifth pair of Kato jeans: I have two pairs of indigo and two pairs of black, in both 14 oz and 10.5 oz. (I also have 3 of Kato's chinos and two pairs of cords; I guess I'm a fan.) I really wanted to add the green to my closet, and they don't disappoint. I don't know why the web site describes them as "dark green"; it's more of a pale greyish-green, but I love it and it goes with everything. It's definitely a summer-weight fabric, and the four-way stretch with 4% elastane makes it comfortable on the first wear, but one touch makes it obvious this is much tougher, higher-quality denim than you can get from the mall brands. The value-for-money is great for made-in-USA selvage denim, too.
