Our premium denim is inspired by the classic vintage blue jean. Our Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim story starts in Japan where our fabric is developed at one of the oldest denim mills. We blend a unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.

Our 4-Way Stretch selvedge fabric is weaved using vintage shuttle looms. Rolls of denim fabric are then brought into our workshop in Los Angeles where each pair goes through a 60 to 90 day process of cut, sew, washing and testing. With 4 fits available in multiple weights (see fit guide) and washes, the style options are endless.

Crafted with intention, our denim is made using premium Japanese 4-way stretch selvedge in our Los Angeles workshop. Our denim goes through a time consuming 50 day process from start to finish to ensure the highest of quality. Built using only the best available hardware with traditional machines and techniques, you are getting a true vintage inspired piece with a modern upgrade of comfort.

Great jeans

Comfortable jeans. I like the 4 way stretch. The skinny jeans are my favorite. Customer service is EXCELLENT and prompt. Jeans are comfortable and look great. Made in USA is a bonus.

Amazing Jeans

I have tried all kinds of selvedge jeans and brands. Never found one that looks quite this good and is comfortable. Never looking at other brands again. Fantastic jeans!

Japanese Selvedge Jean Looks with Dad-jeans Comfort

These pants look great, are well made and most importantly fit well. The sizing guidelines are clear so all you need is a measuring tape to either use on yourself or existing pair of good fitting pants to find Kato's corresponding size. The sizing compares to my other raw, selvedge denim jeans so was safe to order my usual size.

I'm really impressed with how well the four way material stretches just enough to comfortably move or sit without getting baggy overtime. Unlike some of my other jeans, I don't need a wash cycle to get these jeans to snug back up. The dark indigo color and cut makes them easy to dress up for evenings out and business casual events. They are not too hip for a middle aged dad (no matter what my kids say!). These are my first pair of Kato's but won't be my last.
