Kato’s respect for denim reaches back decades. Our years of experience and research resulted in our own version of the highly sought after denim of the 50s. We crafted this fabric with meticulous precision to replicate the uniform texture of the faded vintage denim collected for the Kato archives.
Kato 4-Way Stretch Selvedge has the fit, quality, and comfort that will earn the approval of even the most seasoned denim-heads. Woven on vintage shuttle looms at our Japanese Mill, this denim has the perfect amount of 360º movement and is more comfortable than any other selvedge jeans on the market. All of our jeans are proudly made in America.
This season we are introducing our 10.5oz 4-Way Stretch Selvedge Denim in an all new wash. This specially washed denim is one of our most evenly faded and broken in pairs of jeans. The beautiful texture of this Japanese selvedge denim is revealed through this washing process. These handcrafted Japanese jeans feature a selvedge ID on the coin pocket, chainstitched hems, YKK zipper fly and aged brass rivets.

If you're unsure about a size to choose, you'd go with your go-to size (if you usually go with the size 32, you'd choose the size 32). Please keep in mind that since raw jeans stretch out over time, the best first fit would be tight.
Sizing vary between brands. Please measure the waistband of your favorite pants and compare with our actual measurements below. Please allow a tolerance of +/- .5 inches. Raw jeans and heavier styles feel tighter. The shrinkage for raw jeans is up to 2% and about 1% for washed jeans.
The numbers are garment measurements.
