The Pen Slim - Julian 14oz Selvedge

Our premium denim is inspired by the classic vintage blue jean. Our Premium Japanese 4-Way Stretch Selvedge denim story starts in Japan where our fabric is developed at one of the oldest denim mills. We blend a unique 4 way stretch material with selvedge denim to create a specific amount of stretch and comfort you wouldn’t typically get with selvedge denim. This 360 degree of stretch gives the wearer comfort from every angle no matter what they are doing.

Our 4-Way Stretch selvedge fabric is weaved using vintage shuttle looms. Rolls of denim fabric are then brought into our workshop in Los Angeles where each pair goes through a 60 to 90 day process of cut, sew, washing and testing. With 4 fits available in multiple weights (see fit guide) and washes, the style options are endless.

Our denim goes through a time consuming 50 day process from start to finish to ensure the highest of quality. Built using only the best available hardware with traditional machines and techniques, you are getting a true vintage inspired piece with a modern upgrade of comfort.

I ordered an initial pair that was a size too small. The customer service and return was absolutely seamless. As soon as the return was dropped off, the exchange pair was drop shipped and received in a timely manner.

As far as the Julian wash. These are great, just like a pair that has worn in for for a couple of years. The 14 oz is a nice weight for the wash and very comfortable. Cant recommend any higher. Great shopping experience with a great product. Win Win.

This is my third pair of Kato jeans - all are pen slim and for selvedge/raw jeans, Kato is the way to go. The quality and fit is simply incredible. I am 6’ and 165 lbs, 31 waist, and have a rower’s build. Straight out of the wash my Kato jeans are tight in the thigh but after a few minutes of wear they loosen up just a bit and are very comfortable.
