HIROSHI KATO

The Vise Sashiko - Gray

$358.00

The word Sashiko means “little stabs”. It is a reference to the needle movements in the stitching technique used to mend and reinforce clothing in Japan since the 1600s.

The texture of the Kato Sashiko fabric is created by the single threads that run through the fabric. A close look reveals this fabric’s intricacy, while at a distance, it maintains a nice subtle texture.

This season we are offering “The Anvil” Shirt Jacket and “The Vise” Jacket in this historical fabric. Both come with rope dyed indigo chambray lined cuffs and Kato branded cat’s eye buttons.

“The Vise” Sashiko is available in orange, green, and grey. These colors are rarely seen in sashiko fabrics.

“The Anvil” is available in traditional indigo sashiko. It is woven from a rope dyed indigo yarn and will eventually fade with wear. Available in: Light Indigo and Dark Indigo.
